Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Review Disney Springs

My husband and I finally got to try Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Restaurant when we were in Walt Disney World last month in May. I had seen and heard such great things about this restaurant and we were both excited to get to try it.

From the moment you walk in, the restaurant does not disappoint. It has a way of giving the “home” but very nice restaurant vibe all at the same time. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The server was very nice and explained some of her favorite menu items to us since it was our first time there.

I had looked at the menu before we came and had really been interested in the Thigh High Chicken Biscuits that were an appetizer. They are three homemade biscuits with chicken thighs, homemade pickles, and, my new favorite condiment, hot honey! That stuff was delicious and I’m pretty sure you could eat it on anything lol! I have tried a few different places that have hot honey since we got back, but none even come close to how good it was at Chef Art Smith’s Restaurant. I wasn’t sure that it would be enough for a meal alone (though I was wrong, they were huge), so I ordered a basket of fries as well. When it arrived we joked that it probably could have fed 3-4 people.

My husband got the Fried Chicken and Donuts, because Chef Art Smith is famous for his fried chicken. This meal was huge with two large pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, and a few of their delicious sugar donuts and maple syrup. You can easily see why his chicken is famous, it was made with time, delicious ingredients, and love for sure.

Because it was my birthday that weekend, to end the meal, our server brought out a small bowl with two of those mini donuts with ice cream and a candle. We wondered who was going to eat this because we were both stuffed lol! We did eat some of it and those donuts are very tasty!

We love so many restaurants at Walt Disney World and Disney Springs and it’s always hard to choose where to go when we visit. We have added Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ to the rotation of restaurants that are awesome to visit. We will be back for more of their amazing menu items and, of course, more hot honey.

Our First Minnie Van Ride at Walt Disney World

My husband and I love Walt Disney World and travel there as often as we can. While we are there, we normally use the free Disney transportation available, which is monorails, buses, and boats. However, there are times that you want to get somewhere faster or not be in a large crowd. Normally we take Lyft or Uber and really enjoy them. However, this time we were there for my birthday and wanted to do something a little extra special, and so we called for a Minnie Van.

The Minnie Van came so quickly to our resort, probably within 5 minutes. A very friendly driver hopped out of the van and opened my door, which never happens with Uber or Lyft. We actually had a very large van for just the two of us, but all Minnie Vans are equipped to handle up to 6 passengers and have car seats and pet mats if you would need those.

The interior was leather and one of the most comfortable seats I’ve ever been in. There were abundant cup holders and air controls, along with USB ports for charging.

Our driver had just started driving the Minnie Vans, but she was very friendly and very knowledgeable as we drove to Epcot. We were sad it was such a short ride! At a lot of the parks the Minnie Vans can drive closer to the front than a normal Uber or Lyft and closer than some bus drop offs.

Though we most likely won’t use the Minnie Vans that often due to the higher cost vs free or regular Lyft/Uber – normally we pay $5-10 for those vs $20-25 for a Minnie Van, I would definitely ride with them again and recommend it for special occasions or larger groups/car seats.
